Robert Wilson

Robert Wilson is one of my favourite theatre designers and a huge inspiration in all I do. I find almost all of his dark, twisted, surrealist work immaculate the make up and costume, his set design; simple looking yet with pain stacking detail to get each image on stage perfect. Creating that dreamy quality on stage like what Lynch makes on film.

He also worked with Tom Waits and William Burroughs to produce 'The Black Rider' unfortunately theatre is the never the same recorded or photographed but you can watch the whole of the black rider below.

My King and Queen of collage

..Hannah Hoch and Geoffrey Farmer..

Two stand out collage artists I have recently seen the work of Hannah Hoch a member of Berlins Dada movement in 1920, splicing together images from fashion magazines and hand drawn journals she poked a humorous finger at society at the time. To Geoffrey Farmer a Canadian artist in the now, who combines poetry and social issues, splicing from magazines and using old cut up methods to create his work.

The Surgeon and the Photographer - Barbican Exhibition

'The latest strain goes further yet with figures that have genuine potential for movement, although they don't always use it, and which imply movement even when they are motionless – namely puppets.'

Chris Cunningham

Chris Cunningham is a British video artist most famous for directing music videos for people such as Aphex Twin, Bjork, Grace Jones, Squarepusher and more.. I love the mixture of the surreal, utter darkness and slap stick comedy.

Aphex Twin - Rubber Johnny

Squarepusher - Come on my selector

Aphex Twin - Come to daddy

An advert by Chris Cunningham released in 2008 really realy inspired me before I knew that it was directed by or who Chris Cunningham was himself. This advert has always been there in the back of my mind ever since seeing it.

Fela Anikulapo Kuti

..I hold death in my pouch - I cannot die..

I have recently become quite obsessive with a Nigerian musician and human rights activist called Fela Kuti. After watching 'beware of Mr Baker' a documentary on Ginger Baker a crazy English drummer best known for his work with 'Cream' in a stage of Ginger Bakers life he runs away to Nigera to learn about African drumming which is where he meets Fela Kuti and in turn is my introduction to Fela Kuti.

Fela Kuti was known for having 27 wifes which he named his queens and they were normally performers/dancers for his band. I was equally inspired by these woman as Fela himself.
There make up is remarkable.

Eric Koston

..This Is Eric Koston..

Disillusion magazine pays tribute to the legendary street skateboarder. Although a little cheesy at times this is beautifully filmed warming the cockles of my heart.
